- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, cream together sugar and butter until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in apples and vanilla.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. If using, fold in walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a sweeter taste, increase the sugar to 1 1/4 cups.
